As co-founder of a Philadelphia area band The Manatees, Adkins wrote songs and appeared on their first CD “High Water.” He released two solo recordings “You Are The Love” in 1990 and “Atma Gita” in 1992. In the last four years, Adkins has focused on songwriting via co-writing and songwriting roundtables. At Steel City, Ray will be performing songs from his new CD “Restoration” backed by Lewin Barringer, guitar and mandolin; Chico Huff, bass; Karl Frick, Hammond organ; Neil Simpkins, drums and Angela Marchetti,Valentina Rafielli and Debra Lee on background vocals. About Aaron Nathans: Aaron Nathans' specialty is writing songs about nothing. And yet, they're clearly about something. This Delaware-based acoustic guitar player picks small things to write about, like grapefruit, squirrels and politicians. Nathans, who recently relocated from Madison, Wisconsin, deftly evokes a sense of place, balancing emotion with a wicked sense of humor. |
